Georgeta Cordier or Jimmie Stan was born at the end of the 50’s in Romania. At a very young age, she starts drawing idealized “Bohemian" life scenes. Later, it is through black & white photography that she expresses her vision of the world. She attempts to grasp new images, by working the framing, and then the printing. At the age of starting her professional life, she realizes that there are few possibilities for her under the dictatorship. Wishing to undertake fine arts and cinema studies, she is turned away because of social quotas imposed by the government. She makes plans to leave the country, the only solution to continue her studies and to become an artist. She applies for emigration, and undertakes a hunger strike. Georgeta Stan gains New York. She can finally follow cinema studies; during this time she organizes exhibitions and "installations" with various artists - painters, sculptors, photographers... Georgeta, called "Jimmie" because of her passion for westerns, will work as a film and vidéo editor, and will create her own short movies which are shown in festivals. These movies work with the image more than with the narration, which rather classifies them as "experimental”. She moves to France in 1989, where she will start oil painting in 1998. She works on her own and continues nude sketching painting and sculpting within workshops of the Fine Arts School of Rouen. Her works are signed "JS" like "Jimmie Stan".
